Devyn Swanier -- who had served as a New Orleans police officer for less than a year -- resigned Saturday after admitting that he pulled a gun on a person and threatened to hurt him outside a gas station during a verbal dispute in eastern New Orleans. The incident occurred Friday. He was booked Saturday with aggravated assault and released on $7,500. "An investigation by the Department's Public Integrity Bureau revealed Swanier was at the Chevron Gas Station, located at Crowder and the I-10 Service Road, when he allegedly brandished a weapon toward the victim and retreated to his vehicle's trunk, retrieved another weapon and subsequently brandished both weapons at the victim, placing the victim in fear of receiving bodily harm," police spokeswoman officer Hilal Williams said in the news release. Swanier, assigned to the 6th District, Swanier was off duty at the time of the incident.
