GARDEN GROVE, Calif.—A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting women in two Southern California cities. Garden Grove police say Miguel Lerma Jr. was taken into custody Thursday after DNA evidence tied him to a 2010 sexual assault in Garden Grove and a 2009 sexual assault in Long Beach. In the most recent incident, police allege the 29-year-old Fountain Valley resident picked up a 20-year-old woman on a Santa Ana street and drove her to a cul de sac in Garden Grove where he sexually assaulted her. Customs and Border Protection spokesman Jaime Ruiz tells the Orange County Register Lerma has been placed on administrative leave. The agency says it is cooperating with the criminal investigation. Lerma is being held on $1 million bail.
