The Albuquerque, New Mexico Police Chief, Ray Schultz, announced his retirement on Friday, March 15, 20013. Unfortunately, for many residents, and the families of 18 dead citizens, it took the U.S. Department of Justice's civil rights investigation to finally end Schultz's scandal-scared 8 years as the head of New Mexico's largest police department. Schultz had been in law enforcement 31 years.
Chief Schultz's announced his retirement the same day a jury awarded $10 million to the family of an Iraq War veteran who was killed by an Albuquerque cop in 2010.
