Officers fired, Corruption Weeded Out

Officers fired, corruption weeded out of Waco PD
Waco News 25 by Henry Rosoff - July 23, 2009

WACO, TX - An internal investigation into the Waco Police department found deception, corruption and cheating the tax payers had become the norm for at least four police officers. News Channel 25 has learned the investigation took months and there may be more officers found to be corrupt. Waco Police department spokesmen say they plan to answer any questions later next week. However, with the investigation wrapping up, News Channel 25 was able to obtain the names of the officers indefinitely suspended following the investigation. "Indefinitely suspended" is an administrative term for "fired." Detective Calvin McLean, Officer Christopher Jones, Detective Doyle Anz and Officer Alan Thompson all received letters of Indefinite Suspension. News Channel 25 only obtained letters to McLean, Jones and Anz, although can confirm four other officers were investigated and are now retired or have resigned. All worked part time jobs as security guards at Waco Housing Authority, which is federally funded. Each "double-dipped," meaning they logged hours during the same time of day at both the Police Department and the WHA. In a letter to Jones, Waco Police Chief Brent Stroman wrote: "Your conduct has caused discredit to the department, and continues to reflect unfavorably on the department," adding: "That is likely to cause members of the community to question your integrity and the integrity of this department." Anz's indefinite suspension letter shows he broke the law 60 times, including seven times September 2007. McLean got paid by both the city and the housing authority for the same six hours of work twice in just one week. He also tried to cover his action up during a polygraph test. The tester asked him: "Did you complete less than 80-percent of the hours you charged the housing authority since 2007?" "No," McLean said. "Did you lie to me today when you said that you worked a minimum of 80 percent of the hours you were paid by the housing authority since 2007?" the tester said. McLean answered negatively once again, both times the tester noted "deception." All the officers can appeal the decision to have them removed. News Channel 25 is not aware of any officers taking those steps, however, and Thursday was unable to reach any of the officers involved.

The Waco police were corrupt way before these incidents. The WPD are known as the dumbest cops in
the state of Texas. They refuse to investigate serious criminal complaints and they tell you when you file a police report that the McLennan County Prosecutor won't take the case, as they apparently speak for the Prosecutors office in Waco.

If you question them about why they are not doing their jobs, they will fire back with "maybe you are in cohoots with the people you are reporting" They spend an awful lot of time discouraging reports, and then when you do give one, nothing you report is passed on, its their twisted perceptions.

It isn’t just Waco. the surrounding areas also have very questionable practices and very low employment practices. This keeps the costs down. Reputable offices would cost the department more money so they hire people with questionable pasts. Drug use, mental status, and past due taxes are just a few things they seem to over look. I think if you are going to impose a superior standard , you should personally be held to that standard.

I myself have been harrassed by the same group of officers on third shift. I have no criminal record, but since I'm a hispanic driving a fancy exotic car they feel and think its drug related. They have arrested me for the dumbest things that don't make any sense and follow me everywhere I go. They went to the extreme and noted on their computers that I'm a mentally disturbed Iraqi war veteran, armed and dangerous, known to evade or resist arrest and the list keeps on going. I have spent nearly $60k in legal fees to prove I'm innocent plus bail fees and to current date all charges have either been dismissed or dropped, but after leaving me on a string with these charges for months on end. when I get stopped by these corrupted officers, they always get me and my wife out of the car at gunpoint. It's weird how these warrants keep getting issued by Det. Jaquith. the officers involved are Dunagan, Harrison, Gonzales, Cyr, Washington, Skaggs and the list goes on and on. How does someone get charged for having a stolen firearm that is his and bought at a dealer and has a receipt, makes no sense. But yet, I am not allowed to sue for defamation of character.

But at first the victom was saying to black males did it than 3 days later she said my husband did it. they said they couldnt take her 1st statment serious because she was intoxicated. well my mother n law hired a lawyer who was telling my husband that they have all kinds of evidance on him it would be best for him to ple guilty because if he fought it he would get more than 20yrs but if he pled guilty he would get probation. like i said me and my husband have never been introuble before so we trusted are lawyer. well after the trial we found out that all he told us was a lie. he was friends with the victom and her family and the DA. my husband got charged the max20 yrs. and his friends got away scott free. they wouldnt let his friends uncle testfy because they said if he did and they asked him why he burned the jackett he would of got 3 strikes because he has been in prison before. well i hired a new lawyer out of town but it didnt help he didnt come talk to us the day before the first appeal so we didnt understand his questions. my husband was supposed to tell the court that he was forced by the police officers to sign there statment and how are lawyer kept lieing to us and how the lawyer never brought up that the woman was already bleeding when he opened her car door. they didnt have any weapon just my husbands dna on her car window from when he opened her door. he was denyed the appeal without questioning are lawyer told us he new wonce the judge steped into the court room that it wasnt going to be fair. than are lawyer was mad at us because we didnt answer his questions correctly but the way he spoke with us rite before the appeal wasnt how he asked us in the court room so we didnt understand him. i dont know what to do i dont know what to say i just hope someone important will answer my cry for help i live in WACO TEXAS and im on my kneess beging for someone who cares and can do somthing for us
