A former Rensselaer County jail sergeant, Mark Piche, has pled guilty to federal charges, after widespread investigations including allegations of his involvement in a scheme to push county inmates to register and vote in the 2011 primary and general elections when then-Sheriff Jack Mahar was running for re-election.
