Federal Judge Orders 'Immediate Cease" to Stop-and-Frisk

"Stop-and-Frisk" Only with "Reasonable Suspicion....Not Just a Hunch"

The New York Post is reporting that U.S. District Court Judge Shira Scheindlin ordered the NYPD to immediately stop their stop-and-frisk policy in The Bronx.  According to The NY Post, the 150-plus page federal order directs the NYPD to "immediately cease stopping people outside Bronx apartments enrolled in a voluntary anti-crime program unless cops have reasonable suspicion of trespass."

The federal lawsuit was backed by the New Civil Liberties Union, who claimed the Scheindlin decision as a major victory, and it is one of four 'stop-and-frisk' cases before Scheindlin involving civil rights violations.
